Crowfoot Skating Club – Return to Skating Guidelines

The Crowfoot Skating Club (CSC) is committed first to the health and safety of our skaters and coaches. We will be following the Alberta Health Services (AHS) guidelines, Skate Canada and SkateAB/NWT/NU’s Return to Skating guidelines as outlined below. We will update these guidelines as required. Thank you in advance for taking the necessary precautions and doing what you can to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Planning and scheduling:

  1. All registration and payments for skating sessions will be completed on-line, CSC will not be permitting pickups or payment in person. Payment must be completed prior to skater joining the skating session.
  2. All skaters (parent/guardian if skater is under 18), coaches and volunteers must hand in a signed copy of e Skate Canada Assumption of Risk and Waiver Form (available online). This form needs to be handed in once for the current skating season.
  3. CSC will follow all guidelines and protocols that the arena or recreation facility we are using has put in place. These will include use of dressing rooms, use of shared/open spaces, use of water fountains etc. Each facility has different policies, please see below for each facilities protocols that must be followed.

Before the skating session:

  1. Please review the health screening checklist before leaving your home. When you arrive at the rink you will be required to review the checklist and if you answer yes to any of the questions you will NOT be allowed to participate in the activity and should return home and use the AHS Assessment Tool to determine if Covid testing is recommended.
  2. Transportation to and from arena or recreation facility should be arranged so that only members of same household or cohort share rides.
  3. All warm up should be completed prior to entering the recreation facility.
  4. Please have skaters arrive “rink ready”.
  5. Participants must bring their own water from home; shared water bottles/jugs are not permitted. There will be no water fountains open at any of the facilities, please ensure your water bottle is full upon arrival.
  6. Daily records of anyone running or participating in the program will be maintained that includes the names, and contact information for all coaches, participants, volunteers, and spectators.
  7. Each participant will be required to complete an Acknowledgment, Release, Indemnity and Assumption of Risk regarding COVID-19 form (waiver) (including staff, skaters, coaches, choreographers, volunteers and spectators.
  8. Masks are now mandatory for entry and exit, washrooms breaks, as per the municipal requirements. Skaters are not required to wear masks on the ice.

During skating session:

  1. CFC will be working with the arena or recreation facility to establish traffic flow patterns with potential entry and exit doors. Skaters will be asked to maintain social distance when entering and exiting the ice surface.
  2. All skaters must bring their own personal items (gloves, facial tissues, water bottles, etc.)
  3. Minimum of 2-meter distance must be maintained at all times between all coaches, participants, and spectators.
  4. No shared equipment or aids are permitted at this time, including harnesses.
  5. The facilities we are using are not allowing any spectators at this time.
  6. Music will be played using electronically using Bluetooth speakers. Coaches will have your music. No CDs allowed at this time.

After the skating session:

  1. Every skater is encouraged to depart in a timely manner.
  2. All cool down activities must be performed at home or in an outdoor safe area, where social distancing can be followed.
  3. CFC will work with the facility to ensure all cleaning is done that is required after the session ends.

 

Facility Protocols 

Norma Bush/Father David Bauer:

  1. No Spectators allowed.
  2. Must arrive 15 min prior to sessions start and check in with volunteer for contact tracing. 
  3. Only Monday morning and Friday afternoon skaters may use an assigned dressing room. All other sessions, skaters must arrive with their skates on as there will be limited dressing room space available (only 10 skaters may use a dressing room). 
  4. You must enter the correct entrance for each arena (they are separated and locked off). 

Crowchild Twin:

  1. No Spectators allowed.
  2. Must arrive 15 min prior to sessions start and check in with volunteer for contact tracing. 
  3. Please use the dressing room/bleacher assigned

Winsport:

  1. To be confirmed

Rocky Ridge YMCA Arena:

  1. No Spectators allowed.
  2. Must arrive 15 min prior to sessions start and check in with volunteer for contact tracing. 
  3. Please use the dressing room/bleacher assigned

Crowfoot YMCA:

  1. To be confirmed.
